Yummy In My Tummy

My diet plan doesn't really feel like a diet to me. It really is how I should be eating normally.

1. 3-4 400 calorie meals a day
- The best formula for weight loss? Watch calories!
And the easiest way to do that is to eat four 400-calorie meals daily.

This fuels energy, revs metabolism, and keeps you feeling full longer.
No food is off limits! Just check nutrition information and serving sizes and you'll be able to find meals in the 400-calorie range (380-420 calories)--anywhere, anytime.

2. LOTS of H20 (I don't want to drink my calories - what a waste!)

3. 1 planned cheat day a week
 - I think using 1 cheat day (or cheat meal) a week will help me stay on track. There has been scientific research that proves that having a cheat day or cheat meal actually helps your body with fat loss. A lot of bodybuilders and trainers recommend having a cheat day. A cheat day for me is usually on Sunday, or if I have an event planned for that week. I will usually have whatever I want but I don't go crazy on cheat days. (those are calories I'll still have to burn off haha!)

"By eating calorie dense foods on purpose one day per week, you’ll give leptin levels (and your metabolism) a “reset” before your body starts to work against you.  This keeps your fat-burning potential maxed out"

4. No eating after 7:30
According to Dr. Oz,
"The average American goes to bed around 10:00 p.m. You need to have two hours of time between when you eat your dinner and when you go to bed. When you eat late a night, a couple of things happen. First of all, you're more likely to be eating in front of the tv, which means you're distracted and likely to eat more. You also tend to get high calorie snacks in the late night hours. Try to move your meals up a tiny little bit whatever way you can to make 7:30 p.m. your ideal cut off time."

Working On My Fitness

My workouts for the last month have been on the treadmill.

I got this beauty and have loved just walking downstairs when the kids are sleeping!

Today was hot hot out so I took the kiddies and ran outside! Both my boys love being in the stroller which is a bonus!

This stroller is a-mah-zing!!! It handles the gravel (even thick park gravel) and bumps with no problem. I ran pushing it only with 1 finger! ( mountain buggy duo)

I've been using this app for my treadmill workouts! It's called BeatBurn and it's fabulous. It coaches you through a workout and it even will change the BPM's of your music to match your intensity.

May 1st is the start of Insanity!

This workout is actually insane! It's hard and painful but worth it. I'm really looking forward to it. Hopefully I survive. I like that it doesn't involve weights and that it just sport type drills.

So my plan from now until July 1st is to do 30-60 minutes cardio 5x a week and Insanity.

Step #1 Setting a Realistic Goal

It is so important to be realistic. Otherwise you are just setting yourself up for failure, and disappointment.  I did some research, I asked some questions, and really put some thought into what my goal should be.
April 1st was my first weight in at 179.6. I now weigh 169.0. I used the BMI index to help figure out what was a healthy goal.
The Formula
Your weight (pounds)  time 703, divided by the square of your height in inches = BMI
My example - 169x703 = 118807 / (63X63) 3969 = 29
My BMI is 29 which is considered overweight (almost obese actually).
Healthy BMI is between 18.5 and 25 so I should weigh between 115-140 ish
So going off that and from what I used to weigh I am going to set my goal at 125-130.
That is 44 pounds to loose which is realistic and very do-able.
It is safe to loose 2 pounds a week (thats my plan!) so by October 1st I WILL be at my goal!
Wish me luck MOTIVATION!

I'm Back!

It has almost been a year since my last post! Oops! Life has just been crazy! But I'm back after baby #2 and I am excited to get in shape!

I gained about 40 pounds being pregnant. Eating anything I wanted was great! But now to get rid of it! I've been doing pretty good so far. Only 4 more pounds and I am at my pre-pregnancy weight. Which is still not where I want to be.. in fact it's very far from my goal! But that's ok!

I tell myself "You didn't gain 40 pounds overnight so your not going to loose it overnight either!"

I am hoping that by writing this blog for everyone to read that it will help motivate me to keep going and maybe help some others who are in the same situation.

* This isn't just about loosing weight to look a certain way, it is about being healthy and being able to keep up to my kids as they grow into energetic young men. Its about changing out my rotten habits and replacing them with good lifestyle choices so that I can be a positive example to my children. *

Haha!
